A new historical show from Augustodunum opens exceptionally inside Autun Cathedral. This is undoubtedly the event of the summer of 2025, with 150 actors and a breathtaking lighting display of the cathedral's stones using hundreds of spotlights! It's the 2nd century in Augustodunum, a prestigious city in this old Gallic country that has been entirely Romanised... At the heart of this bare-bones story, as simple as a belief or a legend, Symphorien d'Autun stands out as a new light... It's the story of two worlds facing each other: it's Rome in the midst of Roman Peace, proudly displaying its values, that confronts the first converts to the word of Christ. It's an unequal battle, but one in which the vanquished, who is led to the supreme punishment, will become the victor some time later, and for centuries and centuries to come... Symphorien thus became the patron saint of Autun.
*Doors open at 9pm. Volunteers will seat people in order of arrival. The show will start at 10:00 p.m. for 1 hour 15 minutes.
*The cathedral offers good visibility throughout.
* The cathedral is a 10-minute walk from the town centre car parks: place du champ de mars, place Deguin and hexagone.
* The upper quarters will remain open
*Knives, sharp objects, all glass objects and chairs are prohibited.

Founded solely by the Emperor Augustus, to whom it owes its name, Autun was built at the end of the 1st century BC to accommodate the Aedui people of Bibracte.
"Sister and emulator of Rome" is Autun's motto. Augustodunum was one of the jewels in the crown of Gallo-Roman cultural and commercial life.
Your guide will bring to life the prestige of this ancient city as you visit the Gallo-Roman monuments: the ancient theatre, the Porte Saint-André, the Temple of Janus, the ramparts and the Temple of Apollo.
