By painting these daisies in a very large format, against a neutral background that magnifies them, Odilon Redon invites us to take a fresh look at such commonplace flowers. The collections of the Natural History Museum and the Rolin Museum in Autun, brought together around the work, invite us to reflect on the relationship that man has with living things, from his immemorial desire to preserve traces of them to the very current anxieties aroused by predicted extinctions.
