When you open the door at 55 rue aux cordiers in the James armoury, you will understand the quintessence of an ancestral know-how.
In this unique place, now two hundred years old, the water mill and the lapidary, still in activity, rub shoulders with the Morvan earthenware factory as well as Gien, Peugeot, Deglon, the Forges de Laguiole, Manu Laplace and many other cutlery craftsmen.
Pauline Zacharie, the only woman in France to hold a "brevet des métiers d'art en armurerie", has been serving her customers in this family-run business for 18 years.
She has managed to preserve the knowledge of her predecessors, but also to meet the new demands of her customers from all over France and abroad.
Backed up by two other gunsmiths who are graduates of the prestigious Stéphanois gunsmithing school, their work and achievements know no bounds.
Alongside the gunsmith, a ballistics expert is registered with the courts, giving James an unrivalled level of professionalism.
