These enormous granite masses still oscillate today between legends and scientific proof. The 47-ton "big rock" is still a mystery that everyone is trying to make "crumble". In the middle of the 19th century, the Crumbling Stone was a source of curiosity, mystery and entertainment. For the inhabitants, this stone was a supernatural phenomenon. It was consulted as an oracle and the locals turned it into a specialist judge of marital fidelity. It is said that jealous husbands would bring their wives to the stone and let them touch it, thus setting it in motion. The number of movements would then give, without any possible error, congratulations or disgrace to the husband who questioned his wife's fidelity. Tired of the misfortunes that the stone could cause, in 1869 some young men tried to move it. They only succeeded in making it slide a few centimetres. But now the stone is perfectly still and the oracle no longer responds.
