The Ternin, the main tributary of the Arroux, reaches Autun from its source in the heart of the Morvan Regional Nature Park. Its bed is made up of sand and pebbles, punctuated by a few large granite boulders. The river, which is generally uniform, is around ten metres wide downstream, with a few riffles that speed up an already fairly fast current. The riverbanks are often hollowed out and decorated with submerged roots.

The Ternin meanders through an undulating landscape, alternating between forests and pastures, and is subject to floods and low water at times.
This river is still home to some fine populations of wild fario trout, with their black and golden hues. However, it is recommended that the Lucenay-l'Évêque sector be favoured in the search for these fish.
All first category fishing techniques are permitted on this route. The smooth stretches and riffles, where magnificent speckled trout hide, will offer you some surprises, especially as the fishing is relatively easy.
