A human comedy that takes hilarity to new heights with clown after clown.

A porcelain manufacturer and his neglected wife, an Army Ministry official and his fickle wife, not to mention a child with so-called constipation: these are the main characters in this one-act play by the king of vaudeville or prince of the boulevard - the very funny Feydeau.

Director Karelle Prugnaud has sought to push this prodigious acting machine to the limit by immersing it in the world of the 'clown'. Because what is a clown? Someone who throws himself into ridicule without restraint, with total commitment. That's why, in a set studded with doors and cupboards, between tosses of presumably unbreakable chamber pots and shots of purgative with mixed success, all the characters (played, among others, by the cult-classics Philippe Duquesne and Patrice Thibaud) will literally go off the rails and even indulge in madcap antics in a vitriolic portrayal of the pettiness of the bourgeoisie. For laughs - but also because laughter remains the best weapon against cretinism...
