Quatuors de Beethoven

"Les amis de la musique en Charolais, Brionnais, Bourbonnais" invite you to the Villa Médicis chapel in Autun for the second concert in the series of Beethoven's quartets, scheduled to take place throughout 2025. The Girard Quartet, now world-famous, will play the quartets op59, 127, 18 no. 3 and 132 (i.e. the 8th, 12th, 3rd and 15th). These sixteen quartets plus the grande fugue are something of the 'Holy Grail' of classical music, the pinnacle of everything that has ever been written. Their composition is usually divided into three periods, from 1800 to 1826. This concert will feature quartets from the first period (op 18), the second (op 59) and the last, most extraordinary, when the composer reached the peak of his genius (op 127 and 132). The Girard Quartet has made a name for itself among the great quartets of the time: all brothers and sisters, their cohesion is fascinating. Winners of numerous prizes, they have already recorded to unanimous critical acclaim. Their concert will be in two parts, interspersed with a snack in the magnificent salons of the Villa Medici.
